Wellness

Wellness Care
Preventive care is one of the most important aspects of maintaining your horse’s long-term health and well-being. At Judd Veterinary Clinic, we offer a range of routine equine services, including vaccinations, deworming programs, Coggins testing, and dental care. These visits also provide an opportunity to discuss your horse’s nutrition, performance, aging concerns, and overall health. Our team is committed to developing personalized care plans that help keep your horse healthy, comfortable, and performing at its best throughout every stage of life.
Pre-purchase Examinations
Purchasing a horse is a significant investment, and a pre-purchase examination can provide valuable insight into the horse’s overall health and suitability for its intended use. At Judd Veterinary Clinic, we offer comprehensive pre-purchase evaluations that may include a physical examination, lameness assessment, neurologic evaluation, and additional diagnostic testing when appropriate. Advanced diagnostics such as digital radiography, ultrasound, laboratory testing, and endoscopy can also be performed to help identify potential concerns and provide prospective buyers with the information needed to make an informed decision.
Geriatric Care
As horses age, they may develop underlying health conditions that are not immediately apparent. Regular wellness evaluations can help identify potential concerns early, allowing for timely treatment and improved long-term health outcomes. At Judd Veterinary Clinic, we recommend comprehensive physical examinations and diagnostic testing for senior horses to establish baseline health values, monitor age-related changes, and support their continued comfort, health, and quality of life.

Diagnostics

Ultrasonography
Ultrasonography uses sound waves to evaluate soft tissues, including tendons, ligaments, reproductive organs, lumps, and tumors. This diagnostic procedure is painless, non-invasive, and provides valuable information about your horse’s health.
Digital Radiography
Digital radiography uses X-rays to evaluate bones and identify abnormalities such as fractures, arthritic changes, bone cysts, developmental orthopedic conditions, and infections. At Judd Veterinary Clinic, our advanced digital imaging system produces high-quality images within seconds, allowing for rapid evaluation and diagnosis. These detailed images can be enlarged and enhanced to help detect subtle changes that may not be visible on traditional radiographs, providing valuable information for accurate treatment planning.
Endoscopy
Endoscopy uses a flexible fiber-optic camera to examine the horse’s upper airway and internal structures, including the larynx, sinuses, stomach, and guttural pouches. This advanced diagnostic tool can also be used to evaluate the trachea and upper esophagus. Endoscopy is particularly valuable for investigating respiratory conditions, diagnosing airway abnormalities, and supporting pre-purchase examinations, helping our veterinarians obtain a clear view of areas that cannot be assessed through a standard physical exam.
Pony Express Lab
At Judd Veterinary Clinic, we offer Equine Infectious Anemia (EIA) testing, commonly known as Coggins testing, to help horse owners meet health and travel requirements. Prompt and accurate testing is an important part of responsible equine care, ensuring your horse remains healthy and ready for transport, competition, or other activities.

Our team is committed to providing efficient service and timely results whenever possible. We also help educate owners about EIA regulations and testing requirements, making it easier to keep your horse compliant and protected. Contact our clinic to schedule Coggins testing or to learn more about your horse’s testing needs.
